MATT BELCHER

DJ, SNEAKY PETE’S

Matt Belcher is a DJ, producer, promoter, record label owner, radio station co-founder and avid sandwich enthusiast. If you’re involved in Edinburgh’s music making scene, chances are you’ve bumped into him with one of these hats on.

As a DJ, you’ll catch Matt holding it down on the Cowgate every Tuesday at the beloved Sneaky Pete’s night Soul Jam (under his moniker Percy Main). He’s also shared the decks with a diverse range of artists - from Black Madonna & DJ Sprinkles to Hunee & Helena Hauff - and has been billed at exotic festival locations from Croatia to Largs.

Away from the decks, Matt contributes tirelessly to the musical output of Scotland’s capital. As second-in-command at Sneaky Pete’s, he is involved in the day-to-day marketing, booking and overall strategy of the venue. The job involves empowering new nights and new acts to promote themselves, and giving them the tools to run successful events.

In 2015 Matt set up Lionoil Industries, an independent dance music label that showcases a wide range of artists to an international market.  Based out of Lost Oscillation Studio in Leith, he runs the whole outfit: from A&R to distribution; from mailing lists to the label’s monthly club night.

Never satisfied with the amount of work he’s doing, Matt also recently set up a community radio station for Edinburgh - EH-FM. Having broadcast for three months with a roster of over 50 shows, his vision for the station is to dispel the rumour that ‘nothing ever happens here’ by showcasing the incredible breadth of talent in the city on a digital platform.
